San Diego County's Best Value Since 1999
Over 30 Years of Experience Expert Workmanship Locally & Family Owned
I have known Greg, the owner of Hidden Valley Backhoe and Trucking for more than 30 years. Greg and his crew are an excellent choice for underground utilities, grading, excavation, demolition, hauling and many other services. Their prices are straightforward and VERY reasonable; much better than most in this industry. Despite their competitive prices, Hidden Valley Backhoe is well known for high-quality work, honesty, and industry knowledge. I have personally worked with Hidden Valley Backhoe and have seen their outstanding work at multiple locations throughout San Diego County. Greg has built a great reputation with many clients, who routinely return to his business for follow on work. He is extremely helpful, and will cheerfully answer all project questions. It's no wonder that he has such a good reputation. I fully recommend Greg and Hidden Valley Backhoe and Trucking for your construction needs.

These guys are an excellent option for backhoe and civil work. We have used them numerous times for government and non-government work; they have provided clear pricing and not come back asking for more. They go all over SD County and I always recommend them to anyone looking for these type of services.

My husband and I recently bought a house. The house was great...the back yard, not so much. The ground wasn't level, there was a random dirt mound in the center of the yard, the yard slanted towards the house (ie water would drain at the house's foundation...never good!), and there's a large dirt wall that was uneven and messy. There was also a shed that we wanted to remove before we had the excavator come in. We decided to get the ball rolling and called around various companies. This led us to the owner of Hidden Valley Backhoe, Greg.
Right off the bat, I liked Greg. He was easy going, friendly, and sincere. He came and took a look at the site, and gave us an extremely reasonable bid. He was upfront about everything and was very helpful. We let him know that, once we had torn the shed down, we'd be in touch about moving forward with the excavation/grading.
A few weeks passed and we managed to tear down the shed, but now had all the rubble in our back yard. I called Greg to ask if he does hauling of debris. He said he did, but that, in all honesty, it would probably be cheaper for us to rent a roll-away-dumpster. I was amazed that I had finally met a contractor who was genuinely interested in helping me save money and was even letting me know a cheaper way to go about my project. We rented the dumpster, loaded it up, and had it hauled away...super fast and easy! After that, Greg and his nephew (who operates the bobcat) came out a couple of weeks later and excavated the yard. They did a great job, and were very friendly and sociable. The final price was the same as the estimate he had given us, as he had assured us it would be, yay!
During the whole process and numerous phone conversations he happily answered my ridiculous amount of questions about the excavation as well as other general construction questions I had for other projects I was working on. He worked with me on ways to save money by doing some things ourselves, that contractors would normally charge a small bundle for. He definitely went above and beyond, and was a pleasure to work with. I would absolutely recommend this company!
